If being single is putting you in despair, Bengaluru has the answer for you. To spice up the tech city and help those suffering from loneliness, Bengaluru engineers have come up with an interesting app called ‘ToyBoy.’

The app lets you hire a boyfriend on an hourly basis. The males available on the site include models, celebrities, and “Aam Aadmi” (common man).
To people’s disappointment, the app is not available in Google Play stores. But, one can access its services by following ToyBoy’s official Instagram handle. To inaugurate the social media presence of the app, the authorities wrote, “This is an official Instagram account of ToyBoy portal. This service is for those suffering from depression and for someone looking for companionship. (Note: currently we are not on Play Store).”

Walking along similar lines, a youth from Mumbai, Kaushall Prakash developed an app called ‘Rent a Boy Friend’ (RABF). The app aims at helping those battling mental health concerns like depression.
To substantiate the creation of such apps, a Delhi-based psychologist named Divya Dureja spoke on the matter, “Assuming that a man or woman feels immense loneliness or sadness due to the lack of a companion, then he or she will get on this app in the hopes of soliciting or buying their time, on an hourly basis, with a person they view as a potential partner. However, since the app doesn’t allow for romantic intimacy, this entire ‘deal’, in the eye of the app user, turns out to be a fabricated lie. It is based on a false premise and is using misdirection. I truly hope that this real-life ‘experiment’ that this app is going to be playing out, doesn’t lead to more issues in the lives of the users who opt for the services being provided by this app.”
As the world largely grows modern, people’s interaction with each other takes a backseat. To tackle the problem of loneliness, such apps present a viable option for people to step outside their comfort zones and socialize.
