The ‘Statue of equality’, an iconic piece of architecture, which has been in news lately, is Made in China. Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the world. The statue was made for a whopping 135 cr. in China.
The 216-feet tall statue is the world’s second tallest statue in a sitting position. A report by Deccan Herald suggested that Aerosun Corporation in China was given the contract in 2015. Interestingly an Indian company was also in the fray. The major part of the preparation happened in China, and the statue was brought to India in 1,600 pieces. The installation took about 15 months, from 2017 to 2018.
The statue is made up of the Panchaloha (five metals). It includes copper, silver, gold, zinc, and titanium. Copper is the most used element in the same.
‘Bhadra Vedi’, a 54-feet high structure, is the base building for the statue. It has a Vedic digital library, ancient texts, theatre, and a research centre. Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swami from Sri Ramanujacharya Ashram has conceptualised the statue.
