In an online interview with a news channel, Mr. Prabhakar gave very bold statements, just like when he spoke about the electoral bonds scheme. Mr. Prabhakar said, “This election is going to be the final election in India. If Modi returns to power, there won’t be any elections.” implying that the government will assume total control of the democracy and will not let it stay a democracy.
He further said, “ You’ll hear open and free hate speeches from the Red Fort” implying again that the PM himself will give hate speeches and there will not be any repercussions for that. He also said, “Manipur kind of situation will prevail across the country”, meaning a total breakdown of law and order.
These statements state that Mr. Prabakar is clearly against the ruling regime. He was outspoken about the Electoral Bonds and said “It is the biggest scam”. The two kinds of ideology and opinion in the Sitaraman Household could be one reason for the finance minister to not run for the upcoming elections.
