The CCB officials disclosed that the five apprehended individuals had formulated a scheme to orchestrate a city-wide blast. It was further unveiled that these suspects had a prior history of imprisonment related to a 2017 murder case at Bangalore Central Jail, where they came into contact with terrorists. This encounter during their incarceration played a pivotal role in inspiring their plan to execute the explosion.
The Bengaluru Police Commissioner, B Dayananda, announced that all five individuals – Sayed Suhel, Umar, Janid, Mudasir, and Jahid – who were accused in a 2017 murder case, had been apprehended in Parappana Agrahara Central jail, where they had come into contact with terrorists. The police officials from the CCB stated that they were further investigating the matter.
The CCB’s efforts led to the successful tracking down of individuals planning acts of vandalism in Bengaluru city, resulting in the arrest of the five accused. The police seized seven pistols, numerous live bullets, a walkie-talkie, and other incriminating items from them. Additionally, it was revealed that one of the accused, who is currently at large, had provided these weapons to those arrested for executing certain subversive activities.
B Dayananda added that the entire group of accused individuals, including the one who remains at large, had been implicated in a 2017 murder case within Bengaluru’s RT Nagar police jurisdiction. “While in custody, they came into contact with Nazir, a person accused in the 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts, and it appears that he played a role in radicalizing these individuals,” explained the Bengaluru Police Commissioner.
Acting on received intelligence, the CCB investigators successfully tracked down and apprehended the five suspected terrorists. These individuals hailed from various regions within Karnataka’s capital city and were believed to have crafted a well-thought-out plot for carrying out a blast. The case has been officially registered at Hebbal police station.
According to former Karnataka CM and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai, the case demands investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) due to its significant implications. He expressed concern about a major conspiracy behind the plot, indicating that the suspects had intentions to carry out serial bomb blasts in Bengaluru.
