Sonali Phogat, a BJP leader who passed away in Goa earlier this week, had “multiple blunt force injuries” on her body, according to the post-mortem report, sources were cited by news agency PTI.
The BJP leader’s death was claimed to have been a sudden heart attack, but the results of the autopsy report give the case a new twist.
In light of the findings, the Anjuna Police arrested the two BJP leader’s associates and filed a murder complaint against them.
Sonali, a BJP leader from Hisar, Haryana, was brought lifeless on Tuesday morning to the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa.
Although initial reports said that she died of a cardiac arrest, her family believes that there was reason for suspicion.
In a complaint submitted to the Goa Police, Sonali Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka claims that his sister was raped and killed by her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder.
Sonali had spoken to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law a few hours before she passed away on August 23, according to Rinku’s complaint.
He alleged that she had complained about her staff during the call.
Additionally, he asserted that following her death, the CCTV cameras, laptop, and other important items from her farmhouse in Haryana disappeared.
Dhaka further claimed in the police complaint that three years prior, one of her assistants had drugged her food and then sexually assaulted her before extorting money from her.
On Wednesday, Goa’s chief minister Pramod Sawant announced that a thorough inquiry into Sonali Phogat’s death was being carried out by the state police.
