Kannada superstar Darshan has been busy with promotions of his upcoming film Kranti and was in Hospet for the same. While addressing the crowd the star was thrown a slipper by alleged Punneth fans.

There were chants of “Appu, Appu ”, as the team took the stage, and then, at some point when heroine Rachita Ram was addressing the crowd, someone hurled a slipper at the actor, which slightly clipped his shoulder.
In a viral video that is doing rounds on the internet, cops were seen around Darshan immediately after the attack on the actor. After the slipper hit his shoulder, Darshan said, “It is not your mistake brother, no problem” and tried to calm down his angry fans in the gathering. The actor immediately left the scene with police protection.

Friends and fans of the actor have been condemning the incident, posting #WeStandWithDarshan. The video of the incident is being widely circulated on social media. Fans have been calling for strict action against the perpetrator.
Apparently, Darshan had been in the soup for his recent comments on ‘luck goddess’ during another promotional event of the film Kranti. The comments of the actor angered many who called out his misogynistic views towards women.
It is being alleged that this incident was a retaliation for Darshan’s earlier comment, at the Kranti promotions, when he compared the love his fans have for him, to the outpouring of love for Puneeth when he passed away. Darshan had added that he’s had the good fortune of seeing it while still alive, which, of course, did not go down well with fans of the late actor.
