The Congress government has withdrawn the temporary appointment of slain Bharatiya Janata Party activist Praveen Nettaru’s wife. She was offered a Group Cost on a contract basis in the office of former Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai.
She expressed her preference to work in Mangaluru to the former Chief Minister. Following her request, former CM Bommai gave her the post of an assistant in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund section of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangaluru. A notification regarding the same was issued on September 29, 2022.
Post the death of the BJP activist, Hindu activists ran a campaign on social media urging the then Chief Minister to provide a government job to Nutan.
With the change in government, all the contract-based recruitments made by the previous government have been suspended, hence Nuthan also lost her job.
A report by the Deccan Herald states that if she submits a letter to continue her work to the DC’s office, then it will be forwarded to the government for consideration.
Praveen Nettaru was hacked to death in July 2022. Although the initial probe showed that the killing was a result of a revenge killing, the case is now being investigated by the National Investigation Agency. As of May 27, more than 10 accused have been arrested.
