Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has granted in-principle approval for the establishment of a Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centre in Shivamogga.
Full Story:
Following Mr. Raghavendra’s meeting with Dr. Mandaviya in October 2022, the wheels were set in motion for addressing the healthcare needs of the people in Shivamogga. The Lok Sabha member received a letter from the Union Minister on February 5, confirming the in-principle approval for the establishment of the CGHS Wellness Centre in Shivamogga.
The Union Minister, recognizing the importance of a well-placed healthcare facility, dispatched a team of officers to Shivamogga on January 10. Their primary task was to evaluate the existing infrastructure and recommend a suitable location for the wellness center. After thorough scrutiny, the team suggested the repurposing of the old BSNL building at Sharavathi Nagar to house the new wellness center.
The CGHS Wellness Centre in Shivamogga is anticipated to benefit a substantial number of employees and retirees. As highlighted by Mr. Raghavendra, the center is expected to cater to 7,518 employees in Shivamogga, 4,888 in Davangere, and 2,079 in Chitradurga, all working across various departments and institutes. Additionally, retired employees of the Union Government will also find solace in the availability of medical services closer to home. Until now, these individuals had to rely on healthcare facilities in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Hubballi. The establishment of the new center will provide them with convenient access to medical services and prescribed medications, all free of charge.
Mr. Raghavendra expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister and Union Minister Mandaviya for promptly sanctioning the establishment of the CGHS Wellness Centre in Shivamogga.
