Before making his film debut as a leading man in the early 1980s with the aid of Sanjeev Kumar, actor Anil Kapoor played a few small supporting roles. His brother, the producer Boney Kapoor, came up with the concept of turning K Bhagyaraj’s Tamil film Andha 7 Naatkal into Woh Saat Din during this pivotal point in his career. Anil Kapoor’s first main role in a Hindi movie was his first, thanks to the decision which gave him the right start he required.

Producing Woh Saat Din was anything but simple for Boney Kapoor, who had only made one film at that point. This was mainly because of his low financial resources. He recently disclosed how seasoned performer Sanjeev Kumar saved him and gave him the money he needed to buy the rights to Andha 7 Naatkal.
Boney Kapoor said to ETimes that he had to wait a while before Govind Rajan, a partner at Venus Studio, agreed to sell the rights for Rs 1,25,000 when he first approached Rajan about obtaining the rights for remaking K Bhagyaraj’s Andha 7 Naatkal. Boney pointed out that Rajan needed the money the next day because he was short on cash for the release of his movie.
Boney didn’t have that type of cash, but Sanjeev Kumar helped him after learning about his predicament. Boney went on to say that Kumar quickly gave him Rs. 150,000. With the money from this, he could buy the movie’s rights and, using the rest, buy a print of the movie.
Sanjeev Kumar performed the lead part in Boney’s debut film, Hum Paanch, directed by Bapu, who also served in the same capacity for Woh Saat Din. Sanjeev instructed Kapoor to take the money and purchase the rights because Kumar liked the theme and wanted to promote Anil, according to Boney.
“When we went to Haribhai to return the money,” Boney continued, “we were planning to get my sister married. At that point, Haribhai insisted we keep the money and settle the debt after my daughter’s wedding.”
Reflecting on the string of unfortunate incidents that befell Sanjeev Kumar before his passing, Boney continued by revealing that after Sanjeev Kumar’s passing, his secretary Jamnadas revealed that Haribhai owed many producers money, but no one stepped forward to pay the debts.
Woh Saat Din also featured Padmini Kolhapure, Naseeruddin Shah, and Satish Kaushik in significant roles, in addition to Anil Kapoor. Laxmikant-Pyarelal wrote the music for the movie.
