Bharatiya Janata Party MP, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur has got into another controversy. The leader was speaking at the South Region Annual Convention of the Hindu Jagarna Vedike, in Shivamogga district, Karnataka, on 25 December.

“They stabbed Harsha (Bajrang Dal activist) and other BJP, Bajrang Dal cadres with knives. So I am saying very clearly that we (Hindus) should keep weapons at our homes. At least keep the knives used to cut vegetables sharp”, said Thakur.

“You never know what situation may arise. If we can use them to cut the vegetables, we can cut the faces and heads of our enemies as well,” The MP added.

Thakur also stated that it is the right of everyone to defend themselves. She went on to say that “if someone infiltrates our house and attacks us, it is our right to give a befitting reply.”

No Case Filed

According to a report by South First, the local police have not filed any case against the leader yet. “We have not registered any case as we have not received any complaint so far,” said GK Mithun Kumar, Shivamogga Superintendent of Police to South First.

Political Analyst Tehseen Poonawala tweeted on 26 December that he had filed a case against the MP for her speech. In the tweet, Poonwala tagged the chief minister of the state.
