SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been on a dream run since its release in the West, especially in North America. After the Iconic Chinese theatre premiere, the movie was largely viewed and appreciated by the masses and critics in the United States.
RRR in The Golden Globes
The Telugu movie has also been a frontrunner for several awards this year, as a result of which the director has travelled around several countries to spread the word regarding the movie. In its most recent achievement, the movie has been nominated in the ‘Non-English movie’ category for the Golden Globes Awards.
Presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the awards will be held in Los Angeles on 10 January. The award ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael.
RRR was not the only Indian entry to Golden Globes from India. The other contenders included the likes of Gangubai Kathiawadi, the Gujarati movie Chhello Show, and the Kannada megahit Kantara. RRR has been Best Non-English Language Film and Category. Besides, the chartbuster song from the movie “Naatu Naatu” by Kala Bhairava, M.M Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj is nominated for Best Original Song in Motion Picture.
RRR is a fictional tale of two freedom fighters, set in 1920. The ensemble includes A list of actors from the Indian film industry: Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, and Shriya Saran.
RRR Achievements
The unanimous reception to the movie has resulted in several nominations for the movie. The movie won in the Best International Feature category at the Atlanta Film Critics Circle. In a spotlight award, the Hollywood Critics Association awarded the cast of RRR. Earlier in December, Rajamouli joined the elite list of directors to win the New York Film Critics Circle award.
The music director of the movie MM Keeravaani won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Boston Society of Film Critics awards for the score of the movie.
The movie is also considered to be the front-runner for the Academy Awards. Several film magazines have included RRR as one of the probable nominees in several categories. The Indian Academy association submitted the Gujarati movie ‘Chhello Show’ as its official submission, snubbing the crowd’s favourite RRR.
