Bollywood Actress Richa Chaddha is quite active on social media and is often seen sharing her views on political matters on the same. However, a recent tweet of Richa Chaddha has landed her in trouble. She is receiving constant backlash for mocking and insulting the Indian Army and the 2020 Galwan clash martyrs.
Richa Chadha is getting trolled for tweeting “Galwan says hi” while reacting to Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s comments that the Indian Army is ready to execute orders like taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The actor replied to Northern Army Commander Lt General Upendra Dwivedi’s comments that the Indian Army is ready to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Responding to a post on the statement of intent, Chadha wrote ‘Galwan says hi’. With insult and disrespect to the 20 Jawans who made the supreme sacrifice in the Galwan clash with the Chinese PLA writ large, her tweet has drawn significant backlash.
Richa’s tweet has yet again started netizens to call for a boycott of Bollywood films. Soon after her tweet, #BoycottBollywood started trending on Twitter. She is getting brutally trolled on Twitter with the netizens slamming her for “mocking” and “insulting” the valor of the Indian armed forces.
The Galwan valley clash between India and China took place on the intervening night of June 15-16, 2020, as a months-long standoff between the two Nations’ forces spilled over into a Chinese ambush on India’s troops who had stood firm against China’s attempts to change the status-quo with respect to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and claim parts of Indian territory. In the hours-long battle, several Chinese soldiers also lost their lives, but China has never publicly stated how many of its own troops were killed. That fight resulted in significant casualties on both sides.
One netizen wrote, “Galwan says hi” writes Richa Chadha in response to a statement by a commanding officer on POK. Disrespecting those who gave their lives for India. Mocking the Indian army. She proves once again there is no limit to how low this industry can sink. A boycott is all they are worth.”
Reacting to Richa’s remarks, one Twitterati wrote, “This is pathetic and below anyone can go @RichaChadha you should be ashamed of yourself.” Another mentioned, “Dozens of Bravehearts from Indian Army attained martyrdom while eliminating around 100 Chinese soldiers in Galwan valley But Bollywood actress Richa Chadha mocks the Army Blood boils looking at such anti-Army statements!”
“The price of freedom is borne by our dead. I am aghast. The fallen men of Galwan skirmish don’t deserve to be mocked at!! Jinhe Hind Par Naaz hai wo kahan hai???” said another netizen.
BJP leader Majinder Singh Sirsa called the actress’s tweet disgraceful and said it should be withdrawn at the earliest. Sira wrote, “Disgraceful tweet. Should be withdrawn at the earliest. Insulting our armed forces is not justified.”
