The central pledge of the initiative – to plant one million trees – is not just symbolic but a tangible step toward reclaiming Bengaluru’s legacy as the Garden City. With rising pollution levels, diminishing green cover, and increasing climate-related concerns, this movement aims to restore the delicate ecological balance that once defined Bengaluru.

All panelists emphasised the urgency of the initiative, stating how Reclaiming Bengaluru is more than a campaign; it is a promise to the future generations.

Actor Shreyas, who is gearing up for two new releases Ondsala Meet Madona and Vishnu Priya, shared his vision for a sustainable Bengaluru and expressed his gratitude for being included in this intiative.

The launch included speeches, discussions, and symbolic tree-planting ceremonies within the university premises, setting the tone for the broader movement. Attendees expressed enthusiasm and pledged their support.

Amith Hegde, a leading voice in urban sustainability, explained the multifaceted approach of the initiative. “This isn’t just about planting trees; it’s about creating ecosystems. Our aim is to involve communities, schools, and corporations to ensure long-term care and survival of the saplings,” he said.

The event also highlighted partnerships like those with People’s Planet and N. A. Haris Foundation will provide resources, expertise, and grassroots mobilization to achieve the ambitious target.

Reclaim Bengaluru envisions an inclusive approach to greening the city. The campaign will roll out in phases, starting with residential neighborhoods, public parks, and schools. Regular tree-planting drives, awareness programs, and volunteer opportunities are planned to engage citizens at every level.

The initiative has already gained traction on social media, with the hashtag #ReclaimBengaluru trending, as attendees and supporters shared updates and pledged their support online.

The Reclaim Bengaluru initiative has set a bold and inspiring goal: to restore the city’s greenery and reclaim its environmental heritage. As the community unites under this banner, the dream of a greener, healthier Bengaluru feels not only achievable but inevitable. With a million trees and countless hearts pledged to the cause, Bengaluru is on the brink of a green revolution.
