Bengaluru’s iconic Rameshwaram Cafe has been shut for a few weeks. The cafe made it to the news first when the Indira Nagar branch was shut down by the BBMP for causing congestion on the road. Following Indiranagar, the JP Nagar branch also started facing similar problems, and the reason was also the same.
The authorities have allowed both branches to reopen and begin functioning, after levying a fine. The citizens are still unhappy over the development and have voiced their dissent through social media platforms.
Why was the Indira Nagar branch closed down?
The Indiranagar branch of Rameshwar Cafe closed down for a week from December 13. The residents had complained about the noisy area, congested traffic, and the use of banned plastic.

The authorities had fined the cafe on several occasions, however, the lack of reaction resulted in the brief shutdown.
Why was the JP Nagar Branch in news?
Rameshwaram Cafe in JP Nagar had allegedly violated the traffic regulations. Several accounts and people shared their views of the traffic congestion and the usage of pavements caused by the cafe.
However, the authorities have reportedly allowed the cafe to use the pavement. While the BBMP has brought in the provision of blocking the crossing for traffic congestion, the locals are still quite happy with the development.
Social media reacts
People on Twitter have voiced their concerns against the developments. Several of them have tagged the local Member of the Karnataka0 Legislative Assembly, Soumya Reddy.
Looks like a targeted attack on the cafe. They never affected traffic on the Inner Ring Road. Yes they should have a dedicated parking space, I agree.

I was born and raised in JP nagar at Jambusavari dinne. I have lived my 26 years here and I know for a fact that Rameshwaram cafe is causing traffic issues beyond anything I have faced to date in JP Nagar. If a business expects a big crowd, they must provide parking as well.
