The Hindi film industry’s most successful director Rajkumar Hirani is all set to return to making movies after four years. The director’s next venture is ‘Dunki’ with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, however, it is the project after ‘Dunki’ which has created tremendous buzz right now.
Rajkumar Hirani is planning to make a biopic on the life of independent India’s first national captain, Lala Amarnath. According to a news report, Hirani has been planning this movie since 2019, and the script will mostly be locked by the end of this year.
According to a report by Tellychakkar, Rajkumar Hirani offered two films to Shah Rukh Khan, Dunki and Amarnath biopic, SRK chose the former.
“Lala Amarnath’s biopic is not a typical sports biopic. Hirani will tell his story in his usual entertaining way, beautifully highlighting Lala’s career, his spasmodic brilliance, and his enduring influence on Indian cricket. An A-list young star is expected to star in this film. However, the director will finalize someone only after he is done with Dunki’s shooting,” a source was quoted as saying by the news portal.
Rajkumar Hirani delivered a blockbuster with his last film, which was also a biopic. While many had doubts over Rajkumar Hirani’s treatment of a biopic, he managed it well by catering to the story while still keeping his style intact.
Lala Amarnath’s story is one of the most inspiring stories from the cricketing arena. After decades of struggle, Amarnath rose amidst favoritism to lead the country for the first time, post-1947.
There has been no news about the casting of the film. However, it is believed that the director is looking for a fresh star to essay the role of the former captain. Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment will be producing the movie along with Rajkumar Hirani.
