“Editor-in-chief Times Now, 2016 to 2023” is now Rahul Shivshankar’s Twitter bio. Mr Shivshankar’s departure was officially announced by a channel administration senior member. “He has moved on.”
Mr Shivshankar has “decided to part ways with the network,” the channel’s human resources department stated in an email to staff. Due to this, group editor Navika Kumar will now be in charge of the channel’s operations, effective immediately. As a result, Navika will be the point of contact for all operating content managers on the Times Now team.
Mr Shivshankar used to host the Times Now primetime programme Newshour before joining the station in 2016 and leaving his position as NewsX editor-in-chief. He has over 20 years of expertise in the news sector and worked for India Today and Headlines Today.
The Rivalry Between Rahul Shivshanker and Navika Kumar
An ongoing conflict between Navika Kumar and Rahul Shivshankar dominated the Times Now newsroom. The channel’s journalists disclosed two factions that supported each journalist. Mr Shivshankar briefly found relief when Ms Kumar shifted her attention to the Hindi channel Times Navbharat.
However, Ms Kumar remained in charge on the ultimate level. His resignation’s cause is still a mystery, but further details can come to light in the coming days, helping to clarify the situation.
Questions Raised
As soon as it was reported that Rahul Shivshankar was leaving the Times Now, rumours started circulating on social media. The journalist Rohini Singh claimed on Twitter that significant changes were “sweeping through Noida channels”. She also suggested he had been let go.

However, it was unclear at the time this report was submitted whether he had quit freely or had been fired by the channel. Another well-known Prime Time anchor, Rubika Liyaqat, left ABP News a few days prior.
