German sports car brand Porsche has launched its biggest store in India in the Sankey Road locality of Bengaluru. The showroom was inaugurated on Monday by Porsche India’s brand director Manolito Vujicic and VST Group’s managing director Arun Surendra, along with the chief executive officer of the Middle East and Africa FZE region, Manfred Braunl.
The launch is part of Porsche’s efforts to expand its business in India following a successful 2022, during which the company reported a 64% increase in sales, from 474 units in 2021 to 779 units. Porsche India attributed this growth to the increasing demand for SUV and sports cars in the country, with sales of SUV models up by 69%.
“The inauguration of the new Porsche showroom is in line with our mandate to continue expanding our retail footprint across the country, based on increasing customer demand,” said a spokesperson for the company.
The Cayenne, Porsche’s top-selling model, accounted for 399 retail units in 2022, according to Vujicic.
Following the launch in Bengaluru, Porsche plans to open showrooms in other Indian cities, including Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.
