Boeing’s colossal investment of Rs 1,600 crore has materialized into a sprawling 43-acre campus at Aerospace Park, Devanahalli, near Kempegowda International Airport. Marking Boeing’s largest investment outside the US, this cutting-edge facility is anticipated to be a pivotal hub for fostering partnerships with India’s vibrant startup, private, and government sectors. According to a statement from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the campus is strategically positioned to facilitate the development of next-generation products and services for the global aerospace and defense industry.
During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi will also launch the Boeing Sukanya program, an initiative aimed at increasing the participation of girls in India’s aviation sector. The program is designed to provide girls and women from all corners of India with opportunities to acquire critical skills in STEM fields, preparing them for careers in aviation. For young girls, the program will establish STEM Labs at 150 planned locations, fostering interest in STEM careers. Additionally, the initiative will offer scholarships to women pursuing pilot training, aligning with Boeing’s $100 million investment in infrastructure and pilot training programs in India.
Devanahalli, situated north of Bengaluru, is evolving into an aerospace industry hub, primarily due to its proximity to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and the upcoming Blue Metro line (KR Pura – Yelahanka – KIA), expected to be operational by 2026. The region’s strategic location makes it an ideal choice for companies like Boeing, facilitating easy access to KIA and enhancing connectivity.
Boeing’s India operations, headquartered in Delhi, include field service offices in Mumbai, Hindan, Rajali, and New Delhi. Bengaluru and Chennai host the rapidly expanding Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC). The inauguration of the BIETC campus aligns with Boeing’s commitment to contributing to India’s aerospace and defense sector growth.
