Pamela Chopra, the wife of late Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra, passed away on the morning of April 20, 2023, at the age of 74. Pamela was a well-known Indian playback singer, film writer, and producer in her own right.
According to reports, Pamela had been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for the last two weeks. Despite being put on a ventilator, her health continued to deteriorate. She breathed her last this morning at 11 am.
Pamela Chopra was a multi-talented personality and had contributed significantly to the Indian film industry. Besides being a playback singer, she was involved in the production and writing of several of the films under Yash Raj Films (YRF), the production house co-founded by her and her husband. In 1993, Pamela Chopra independently produced a film named Aaina and co-wrote the script of a popular film Dil To Pagal Hai.

Apart from her work in the film industry, Pamela Chopra was also known for her philanthropic work. She had been associated with several charitable organizations, including the Cancer Patients Aid Association and the Pratham Foundation, which works towards improving the education of underprivileged children in India.
Pamela Chopra’s immense contribution to Indian cinema was recognized in 2014 when she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Film Industry. Pamela and Yash Chopra got married in 1970 and had two sons, Uday and Aditya Chopra. As a singer, Pamela Chopra had sung several songs for her husband’s films, including Kabhie Kabhie and Mujhse Dosti Karoge.
