Firstpost is a part of the News18 network media owned by Reliance. She earlier worked for the WION Channel which was owned by the Essel Group and is also a part of the Zee Media Network of Channels. The channel was primarily aimed at covering global news and current affairs.
Palki Sharma hinted at her comeback to the screen in the form of a news professional in a podcast she did with the ANI Editor. She also talked about starting to work on a new project which would be a different experience for news media in India.

While joining the News18 network, she stated that she was going to launch a global project to change the news-viewing culture in India.
The Reliance-owned media group is digitally available for its services. Although not amid several controversies, Firstpost was criticised in 2015 for removing articles written by the then editor-in-chief R Jagannathan titled, “GST, Land Bill on Hold: Modi May Have To Rethink Jaitley as Finance Minister.”
