Byatarayanapura is one of the many constituencies in Bengaluru but a crucial one for sure. It encompasses both old and new Bengaluru and its issues are also molded accordingly. It consists of areas like Jakkur, Dodda Bommasandra, Thanisandra, and Hebbal-Kempapura inter alia and these areas have seen constant development thanks to the proximity to the airport and the development of new IT spaces around the region. The MLA for Byatarayanapura for the past fifteen years is Krishna Byregowda (KBG), a popular Congress leader and the son of the former minister, Byregowda.
Several people of Byatarayanapura constituency have complained about the lack of acknowledgment given to their problems and the grassroots issues not focussed upon. As a solution to these issues that people have raised, the JDS party has fielded their candidate, P Nagraj Gowda.
Who is he?
P Nagraj Gowda was a member of the Congress Party and expected the party to hand over the Yelhanka ticket to him which the Congress Party refused. While he did not make much noise about it, JDS chief and former CM HD Kumaraswamy decided to hand him the Byatarayanapura ticket withdrawing the already contesting candidate from JDS.
Nagraj Gowda has told the media that he is more aware of the problems of the Byatarayanapura constituency and will resolve them for the people in a time-bound manner. Added to this are the promises made by the JDS if they come to power and how Nagraj Gowda will implement them in his solutions.
He also said that KBG hails from Kolar and the BJP opponent Thamme Gowda hails from Chikkaballapura. This makes him the only candidate in the game who hails from the region and understands it better than the others. He has also conducted roadshows and massive campaigns to highlight his candidature and his presence in the coming Karnataka Assembly elections.
