Over a hundred residents of Mahaveer Ranches apartment near Parappana Agrahara fell sick after consuming contaminated water.
A report by the Deccan Herald stated that the apartment uses water from four borewells and private water tankers. Balasundar A S, Chief Health Officer, said that the apartment members fell sick after consuming water from a private tanker.
The residents who consumed the water showed the symptoms of gastroenteritis, such as diarrhea and vomiting.
Among others, the number of children who fell ill after consuming water is an alarming sign. A report by the Times of India stated that the number of children who were sick was not certain, however, they were all treated as outpatients in a nearby hospital.Tushar Giri Nath, BBMP chief commissioner, said that the probe in the matter was on.
Following the incident, the health officials from the health department of Bengaluru Urban District filed a complaint against the builders of the apartment.
“Many complained about health issues over contaminated water on the apartment residents’ WhatsApp group. While one of the residents took his child to hospital, following stomach troube and vomiting, few others also sought medical attention, citing similar symptoms,” said a police officer to The Times Of India.
