The Sony World junction in Koramangala has turned into a commuter’s nightmare due to its high traffic volumes. Serving as a vital thoroughfare connecting Koramangala with Indira Nagar and Sarjapur Road, the junction has become increasingly congested, causing significant inconvenience for travelers.
Currently, the cycle time of traffic signals from 7 am to 11 am exceeds 200 seconds, which is more than three minutes. Consequently, vehicles end up queuing at these signals, causing delays and congestion. To alleviate this issue, the cycle time should be reduced to 150 seconds.
Within a 200–500-meter radius of the junction, there are four signals: the NGV signal, the Maharaja junction signal, the Canara Bank signal, and the BDA complex signal. To improve traffic flow, these signals are being synchronized.
One significant contributing factor to the traffic jams is the right turn from Koramangala 100ft road. To mitigate this, it is recommended to avoid allowing turns at this junction.
As a long-term solution, constructing a flyover is being proposed. The estimated budget for this project ranges from 150 to 200 crore, and it is expected to be finalized within a timeframe of 9 to 12 months. By implementing the flyover, it is anticipated that the prevalent traffic congestion in the area would be significantly alleviated.
