Masjid-e-Bilal in South Bengaluru organized a special “Masjid Darshan” on February 17, 2024. The program invited people of all faiths and backgrounds to witness the evening, sunset, and night prayers, experience the call to prayer (azan), and engage in discussions about Islamic culture and beliefs.
Situated on Bannerghatta Road, Masjid-e-Bilal, also known as ‘Masjid e Eidgah Bilal,’ stands tall as a four-storied structure adorned with a white dome and four towers. Beyond its religious significance, the mosque captivates visitors with its unique design and well-crafted interiors. Offering ample parking space for both two and four-wheelers, the mosque, built on a 1.45-acre land at a cost of 20 crore rupees, boasts a capacity to accommodate 6500 worshippers.
During the Masjid Darshan, we were taken on a guided tour of Masjid-e-Bilal, where the volunteers guided us through a detailed tour, sharing insights into Islam, the mosque’s significance, and the rituals practiced within its walls. The experience was beyond just explanations, we witnessed evening and late-evening namaz, with volunteers offering explanations of the meanings behind each prayer. The event didn’t stop there – it featured informative book stalls, inviting us to explore Islamic literature and learn more, followed by tea and snacks were given out as giveaways, not only showcasing Islamic hospitality but also educating us about their cultural aspects.
