Governor Gehlot revealed that the construction of the 3.3-kilometer double-decker flyover, featuring an upper deck for Metro and a lower deck for vehicular traffic, is nearing completion. This project, aimed at easing traffic congestion near Central Silk Board and improving connectivity between south Bengaluru and IT hubs like Whitefield, is expected to be inaugurated by July this year. Despite facing delays from the initial October 2021 completion deadline, the project is now 98 percent complete, promising significant relief to commuters.
Gehlot also provided updates on the progress of the Blue Line of Namma Metro, linking Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport. Phase 2A of the project, connecting Central Silk Board to Krishnarajapuram, has already commenced construction in August 2022. Additionally, Phase 2B, extending from Krishnarajapuram to the airport, is underway from September 2022. This expansion, covering a total length of 58.19 kilometers with 32 stations, is slated for completion by June 2026, promising enhanced connectivity across Bengaluru.
Governor Gehlot highlighted that over the past eight months, the government has added 1,105 buses to its four state-run transport corporations, aiming to improve accessibility and convenience for commuters. Furthermore, the government has filled 1,550 vacancies within these corporations, enhancing operational efficiency. These measures signify a commitment to addressing the evolving transportation needs of Bengaluru’s residents.
