Historians and even the Bose family appear to be annoyed by the different allegations made in the teaser video. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s grandnephew, Chandra Kumar Bose, blasted the movie’s director for “distorting” history on Twitter.
Mr Bose tweeted, “Sorry- the most wanted leader & freedom fighter was – #NetajiSubhasChandraBose. He was the only front-line leader who had ‘shoot at sight orders’ & had sacrificed his life on 18 August 1945 for the freedom of our nation. If you respect #Savarkar pl don’t distort history.”

In his movie, Hooda asserted that Savarkar “inspired” Subhash Chandra Bose and other independence fighters like Bhagat Singh and Khudiram Bose. When asked about his granduncle’s inspiration, Bose noted that his guru, Swami Vivekananda, and his political tutor, Deshbandhu Chitranjan Das, both strongly refuted the exaggerated claims made in the movie.
He described Savarkar as a “great personality.” Still, he said that the two were “diametrically opposite” and that he couldn’t understand why Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose would adhere to Savarkar’s beliefs and values given that he genuinely “opposed” them.
He even recalled Netaji’s writings, in which he said that in the freedom movement against the British, he could not expect much from Savarkar and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He continued by saying that Netaji was a “secular leader” who fought both those who were “communal” and Savarkar’s ideology.
He continued by saying that Hooda’s assertions in the video were “absolutely incorrect.” Additionally, he asked Randeep to present the accurate and authentic history of India’s struggle for independence.
He declared that “it would be a great injustice to the youth” to depict history on television incorrectly. Bose claimed Hooda was trying to stir up controversy so that his movie would get some attention and that it was unlawful to “project wrong history.” The movie, which also stars Ankita Lokhande and is directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda, is set to hit theatres this year.
