The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has recently removed certain crucial topics from Indian history, sparking a heated debate on social media. Among the deleted chapters from history books are references to Gandhi and his assassin Nathuram Godse.
The NCERT conducted a “syllabus rationalisation” exercise, which resulted in the removal of a particular chapter from the textbook, although this was not mentioned in the officially released booklet.

According to an NCERT spokesperson, “We have already rationalised the syllabus in 2022 as per the committee recommendations. Anything that one cannot find in the rationalisation booklet could be an oversight or a problem at the publishing level.”
The chapters on Gandhi after India gained independence have been removed from the Political Science Textbook. One of the deleted passages from the textbook stated, “His steadfast pursuit of Hindu-Muslim unity provoked Hindu extremists so much that they made several attempts to assassinate Gandhi ji. Despite this, he refused to accept protection and continued to meet with everyone during his prayer meetings.”
• “Ban was imposed on RSS after Gandhi's death.”
• “Gandhi's steadfast pursuit of Hindu-Muslim unity provoked Hindu extremists.”

The references to Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and his assassin Nathuram Godse as a Brahmin from Pune and the editor of an extremist Hindu newspaper who had denounced Mahatma Gandhi as an appeaser of Muslims have also been removed from the Class 12th history textbook.
However, all these deletions are not part of the officially released booklet on the rationalisation of syllabus, which is available on the NCERT website. The political science curriculum deletion started from Page Number 41 in the booklet, whereas the deleted lines on Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination were mentioned in a box on page 12.
Key deletion in NCERT textbook: Gandhi pursuit of Hindu Muslim unity provoked Hindu extremists, RSS banned for some time. Reference to Nathuram Godse denouncing Gandhi as ‘appeaser of Muslims’ taken out (source: Indian Express). I hope one day they don’t say Godse is a hero!🙏

China has renamed 11 more places in Arunachal Pradesh.
The time for banning apps is over. Govt should take stronger action and remove China from NCERT Geography books.
