In the city of Muzaffarnagar, the Superintendent of Police has initiated an investigation to substantiate the accusations directed at Zubair, who is purported to have shared the video of the incident.
The Muzaffarnagar police in Uttar Pradesh have taken legal action against Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of Alt News and a prominent fact-checker. He is accused of potentially disclosing the identity of a Muslim boy who was subjected to an incident of physical assault by his peers, following the instructions of a school teacher at a private institution within the Muzaffarnagar district. The incident, which occurred on August 25, has prompted authorities to register a case against Zubair for his alleged actions on social media.
The case was lodged on the complaint of Vishnudutt of Khubbepur village where the incident took place at a private school. UProviding specific details, Superintendent of Police for Muzaffarnagar, Satyanarayan, has revealed that the case has been formally lodged at the Mansoorpur police station. The registration falls under the purview of Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. This particular section holds provisions that strictly prohibit the revelation of the identities of child victims. The complaint that prompted this legal action was submitted by Vishnudutt, a resident of Khubbepur village, the very location where the incident transpired on August 25 within the premises of a private educational institution.
Initiating a thorough investigation into the matter, the Superintendent of Police (City) in Muzaffarnagar has taken active steps to authenticate the accusations brought against Zubair. The allegations stem from his role in shedding light on the incident via social media channels, where he is believed to have shared the video purportedly capturing the event in question. The incident, involving the physical altercation wherein a Muslim boy was subjected to a slap by fellow classmates under the guidance of teacher Tripta Tyagi, gained rapid attention. Swiftly, the video recording of this episode became a viral phenomenon, spreading widely across online platforms.

Additionally, the teacher herself faced allegations of making statements that incited communal tensions. In response to a complaint lodged by the boy’s father, a formal case was filed against her. Notably, a range of leaders from opposition parties expressed their strong disapproval of the incident. Prominent figures such as Rahul Gandhi from the Congress, Varun Gandhi from the BJP, Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM, and Jayant Choudhary, the leader of RLD, voiced their condemnation of the event.
