With a plethora of laurels, projects and heartening pats by the Prime Minister, Bimal Patel has turned into India’s preferred architect.
Patel is well-known for his works of architecture under the guidance and demands of the Indian Prime Minister since the latter undertook the role of the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The renowned architect has undertaken projects such as the development of the Mumbai Port Trust, restoration of Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Ashram spread over 32 acres of land, and the Kashi Vishwanath corridor in Varanasi. Other excellent displays of his works include the Gujarat High Court and IIM Ahmedabad’s new campus.

1. One of his projects was the campus of The Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Ahmedabad. The project won the Agha Award for Architecture in 1992.
2. He also founded a non-profit organization named Environmental Planning Collaborative. The organization acts in favor of advocacy and research.
3. The architect undertook the role of visiting faculty at the School of Architecture and School of Planning, CEPT, Ahmedabad, India
4. Patel was honored with the UN Centre for Human Settlements Award of Excellence and the World Architecture Award in 1998 and 2001 respectively.
5. He is the Managing Director of HCP Design, Planning, and Management Pvt Ltd.
