Adipurush’s visual effects have been a topic of discussion for months. The VFX of the high-budget movie has been under scrutiny ever since the first trailer for the movie was revealed late last year and received harsh criticism for the graphics. Prasad Sutar, a 25-year industry veteran, is in charge of overseeing the visual effects for Adipurush. However, there has been criticism around his connection with the movie.
Who Is Prasad Sutar, The Man Behind Adipurush’s VFX?
Veteran visual effects supervisor Prasad Sutar has overseen the visual effects for films like Tanhaji, Bajirao Mastani, Don 2, and Rajneeti, among others. He started his career working on the crew that produced the well-known sequence of Aamir Khan leaping in front of the moving train in the 1998 movie Ghulam. According to his IMDb page, he started as a CGI animator. Then he moved on to work as a compositor and VFX supervisor before becoming the director of a VFX department. He has appeared in about 150 films in many languages over the years.

His Company: NY VFXWaala
In 2015, Sutar founded his own business, NY VFXWaala, in partnership with VFX supervisor Naveen Paul and in association with Ajay Devgn’s production firm. Because of this firm’s efforts, he received a Zed Cine Award for Best Special Effects for Bajirao Mastani and a Filmfare Award for Best Visual Effects for Tanhaji.
Prasad, however, is involved with Adipurush in a personal capacity. Following criticism of the teaser, NY VFXWaala announced last year that they had not contributed to the movie. The statement released by trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated, “We are putting this on record because we have been asked by a few media people.”
His Reaction On The Adipurush Backlash
Mr Sutar recently discussed the criticism the movie’s visual effects received in an interview with India Today and said, “We can’t change things completely. The basic challenge that remained after the reaction was to re-correct the characters in the animation. We fine-tuned it. In the little time that we got, we only worked towards improving things. We are making it more real.”
On June 16, Om Raut’s film Adipurush, which stars Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, was released.
