Indian cricketer Virat Kohli shared a note on Instagram, as his privacy was breached by a fan. A video went viral from Virat Kohli’s hotel room, which captured his personal belongings. The snapshots of the video had been making rounds on social media, however, it came into the limelight when Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma asked the fans to not breach their privacy.

Virat Kohli’s statement
“I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment.” Wrote the former captain.

Anushka Sharma was more direct with her criticism, as she mentioned that the fans can’t take the stars for granted. “Have experienced a few incidents where some fans have shown no compassion or grace in the past but this really is the worst thing. An absolute disgrace and violation of a human being and anyone who sees this and thinks celebrity ho to deal Karna padega should know that you are also part of the problem. Exercising some self control helps everyone. Also, if this is happening in your bedroom then where is the line?” wrote the actress.

Hotel Staff Or A Fan?
Virat Kohli’s brother commented on his post alleging either a staff member behind the video or the security in case of a commoner. The Indian team stayed at the Crown Towers, in Perth, where this incident took place. This is not the first time an issue regarding hospitality has made it to the news. Before the second game of the tournament, the team had reportedly complained about the food.
Team India will be playing their next World Cup game against Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval.
