Congress lone Lok Sabha MP in Maharashtra, Suresh Dhanorkar passed away in a Delhi hospital.
The 47-year-old Member of Parliament, who represented the Chandrapur constituency, was admitted to a Nagpur hospital last week for treatment of kidney stones. Suresh ‘Balu’ Dhaorkar was later shifted to Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital in the Delhi – NCR region early morning on May 30.
He was moved to Delhi in an air ambulance, where his condition worsened and he eventually passed away in a few hours.
Dhanorkar started his political career with Shiv Sena in 2013 when he fought and won the Warora-Bhadrawati assembly seat in the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections.

After switching to the Congress, Dhanorkar was fielded by the party against a veteran BJP leader Hansraj Ahir, the then-sitting MP of Chandrapur, in the 2019 General Elections. Chandrapur’s contest was a surprising one, as the first-time runner, Dhanorkar proved to be a giant killer by defeating a former Union Minister.
Saddened to hear about the sudden demise of Sh. Suresh Dhanorkar ji, INC MP from Chandrapur.
My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and his party colleagues, wishing them lots of strength to cope with their loss. Prayers for the departed, Om Shanti.— Priyanka Chaturvedi🇮🇳 (@priyankac19) May 30, 2023
Dhanorkar is survived by his wife, Pratibha Dhanorkar, Congress MLA from the Warora-Bhadrawati assembly constituency.
