Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai vowed on Wednesday that the “Onti Mane” campaign, which had been suspended due to the pandemic, will soon resume.
For SC/ST, OBC, and minority communities to build homes on their plots, the “Onti Mane” housing initiative offers Rs 5 lakh in funding.
Bommai, who examined numerous construction projects in the Chickpet constituency, claimed that the programme assisted the underprivileged in building a home for themselves.
“I will pass an order to restart the programme. It was a successful scheme and has helped many people belonging to the weaker sections. We had stopped the programme owing to the pandemic. We will soon decide how many houses should be granted for every ward and issue an order,” he said.
Bommai also checked on the development of the K-100 waterway project, which aims to transform the 12 km-long stormwater drain that connects Majestic to Bellandur Lake into a beautiful shoreline, as well as the multi-level parking structure that is being built at Gandhi Bazaar.
“The first phase of the waterway project will be completed in the next three months. We hope that the success of this project will be replicated across other stormwater drains in the city,” he said.
