The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will be launching 40 non-A/C sleeper buses on October 7, 2023. Additionally, 100 new Sarige buses will also be launched on the same day.
According to the KSRTC officials, Chief Minister Siddiramaih and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy will be attending the event and the buses will be inaugurated by them in front of the steps of Vidhana Soudha. These sleeper buses will be called ‘Pallakki’, and will commute in the inter-city and long-distance routes.
After the Siddiramaih government launched the Shakti scheme, which allows women to travel for free of cost in State-run road transport corporations (RTCs), the four corporations (KSRTC, the BMTC, the NWKRTC, and the KKRTC) have planned to procure 1,894 new buses this year to strengthen their fleet.
Currently, the four RTCs altogether have 23,989 buses that operate across the State with an average run of 65.02 lakh kilometers per day.
