KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty are the latest entrants into the ‘star-couple-tying-a-knot’ club. The duo got married at actor Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala. The wedding proceedings began on January 21 with a cocktail party along with a sangeet ceremony. January 22nd saw the haldi celebrations, followed by a private wedding affair on January 23rd. While speaking to the media Suniel Shetty confirmed that the reception will be held after the Indian Premier League.

The Love Story
The duo reportedly got into a relationship in February 2019. Athiya and Rahul met through a mutual friend and got along well with one another. The couple started seeing each other for a while and their fans had little to no idea about the same as it was kept under wraps for the longest period.
The first hint was from the account of fashion designer Vikram Phadnis. The former choreographer teased the actress in her comment section. “You seem to be v hyper and excited these days??? Let’s go to KL??? ….. Kuala Lumpur (sic).” wrote Phadnis, as a comment to Athiya’s post.
It was this comment which made the netizens stop and take notice of the development between the star couple until they put out posts on their respective social media handles.
In December 2019, the couple made their relationship official by putting out a post. They travelled to Thailand for the new year and remained in limelight by posting comments on each other’s posts after that.
First Appearance
Given that the next few years were hit by an unprecedented pandemic, the couple could only make their first public appearance months later. Two years after making their relationship official, Athiya and Rahul were seen together at the screening of ‘Tadap’. The film starred Athiya’s brother and Rahul’s friend Ahan Shetty.
Post the movie screening, the star couple was signed by several companies as their faces. They featured in several ad campaigns, including a French Luxury eyewear brand, Numi Paris.

Making It Official
In a popular talk show, ‘Breakfast with Champion’ with Gaurav Kapoor, KL Rahul opened up about Suniel Shetty’s love for the sport. Athiya travelled with KL to Germany when the cricketer was injured and had to undergo treatment.
The couple entered 2023 together in Dubai. Athiya and KL finally tied the knot in an extremely private affair at Khandala.
