In the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, suspected water poisoning has led to the hospitalisation of 78 additional individuals and two deaths.
Both residents of Kavadigarahatti village, Manjula (23) and Raghu (27) passed away on Tuesday. Manjula passed away at the local hospital, but Raghu died in Bengaluru, Karnataka, where he had travelled. He started feeling sick to his stomach and throwing up. His family members were informed of his passing by the Bengaluru police.
Due to a personal rivalry, Manjula’s family has accused a man named Suresh of poisoning a water tank. Ramanna, Manjula’s husband, said that Suresh’s daughter had run off with a member of their family.

Officials from the municipality have taken water samples to identify the source of the contamination. Authorities have advised locals not to drink water provided by the city government after the incident on Tuesday. Due to severe vomiting and diarrhoea, several affected people are currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital. The hospitals in the adjoining city of Davanagere, Karnataka, have taken critically ill patients.
Sixty of the Seventy-Eight who became ill received care at a private hospital, while 18 were admitted to the district hospital. Health department officials are stationed at Kavadigarahatti, Karnataka, to respond to any emergencies. Water and stool samples from the affected individuals have been sent to the lab for testing to determine the exact cause of contamination.
