As Karnataka Polls 2023 are nearing, Congress has activated various campaigns across the state. Recently the Bharat Jodo Yatra passed through Karnataka developing different highlights for the party. Recently, KPCC president DK Shivakumar said that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would campaign for the party during the 2023 assembly polls in Karnataka.
DK Shivakumar said the party is planning a separate manifesto for women ahead of polls, due by April-May, and wants to release a “guarantee letter” expressing Congress’ commitment towards them.
“Women are 50 per cent of the population, Congress has decided to prepare a separate manifesto for women regarding the ways in which the party can contribute to betterment of their lives and addressing the issues faced by them. Also building leadership among them and strengthening them,” Shivakumar said.
Priyanka Gandhi Took A Dig At The BJP
“I want to ask a question, under BJP government, has your life become better? Did anything change in your life? Look at past few years and evaluate your life before voting,” Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said.
“I have been told that situation in Karnataka is very bad, Rs 1.5 lakh crore money has been lost through corruption. PSI scam is really shameful, you educate your children and this is what you get from politicians in power,” she added.
Priyanka Gandhi Promised Housewives ₹2000/ Month
The ‘Gruha Lakshmi’ scheme, would benefit 1.5-crore housewives, stated KPCC.
If voted to power, The Congress in Karnataka would give ₹ 2,000 a month to a housewife in every household. This is the guarantee given by the AICC general secretary to every woman in Karnataka, it was announced in the “Na Nayaki” event organised by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at Palace Grounds.
“This scheme is for those women working day and night, helping build society. Women who head a household will get Rs 2,000 per month, which is Rs 24,000 a year, directly sent to your bank account,” Priyanka Gandhi said.
This income for every woman will help them run their household by overcoming the burden of price rise and increase in LPG prices. More than 1.5 crore women will benefit from this scheme.
She added, “Don’t you want education, government jobs? Don’t you want the freedom to make choice for yourself and family? Politics is your strength.”
This announcement comes within days of the party promising to provide 200 units of free electricity every month to all households in the State.
Assembly elections are due in Karnataka by May. BJP and Congress are adamant about winning with a majority.
