Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah revealed plans for the upcoming 10-day Dasara festival, renowned as the state’s “nada habba” or state festival.
Promising a grand and meaningful celebration, the festivities are set to take place in the vibrant city of Mysuru this year. Following a high-level committee meeting held in Bengaluru, the capital of the state, CM Siddaramaiah expressed enthusiasm for the inclusion of captivating attractions, including an air show, an exhibition, and an array of cultural programs.
The festivities will begin with a sacred inauguration between 10:15 to 10:30 am on October 15, marked by heartfelt prayers dedicated to goddess Chamundeshwari. Furthermore, CM Siddaramaiah disclosed plans for stunning light decorations not only at the palace but also at significant buildings and trees throughout Mysuru city. These decorations will be illuminated from October 15 and will continue for a week after the conclusion of the festivities. Emphasizing the importance of the decorations, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure the quality of the displays, extending the illuminations to nearby areas as well.
The state government has planned to support and promote local artists during the cultural programs at the upcoming Dasara celebrations. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself will personally select the chief guest for this year’s inauguration, adding a special touch to the event. In addition to this, discussions are underway to organize a thrilling air show as part of the festivities, with the involvement of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
While emphasizing the importance of a grand celebration, CM Siddaramaiah is determined to ensure that unnecessary expenditures are avoided to maintain financial prudence. The goal is to make Dasara even more appealing to tourists, thereby boosting tourism in the region. In line with tradition, Dasara celebrations will also be held in Srirangapatna and Chamarajanagar, keeping the spirit of the festival alive in these revered locations. With these dynamic plans in place, this year’s Dasara is set to be a captivating and unforgettable affair for both locals and visitors alike.
