Karnataka 20-Year-Old Arrested For Pro-Palestine WhatsApp Status

In a recent development, a 20-year-old man, identified as Alam Basha from Karnataka’s Hospet district, was apprehended by the Vijayanagar Police for allegedly posting contentious WhatsApp status messages in support of Palestine. 

 

The arrest took place on Thursday night (October 12), as reported by local news media. The escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine, triggered by a recent attack by Hamas on October 7, has intensified the region’s tensions. Notably, the accused, Alam Basha, is set to appear before the magistrate on Friday (October 13), according to local news sources.

As per details disclosed by social media users well-informed about the case, the image of the detained individual was widely circulated on various platforms, alongside reports from the local media. Sources indicate that the authorities have taken him into custody and filed a case against him under sections 108 and 151 of the CrPC.

Concurrently, the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, embarked on a visit to Israel from October 11 to October 13, aiming to engage in discussions on the ongoing strife in the conflict-ridden region.
