After experiencing a blockbuster few months at the theatre, Kantara was all set to be made available to the public through OTT. There were reports of the film’s screening rights being sold to Amazon Prime Video, making the audience jump with joy. However, according to recent reports, fans of the movie might have to wait a little more to watch it on their small screens.
Kantara enjoyed success not only in the south Indian movie industry but also pan- India. No Bollywood movie released in the same time frame as Kantara could get the better of the movie. Whether it be Phone Bhoot, Mili, or Double XL, Kantara stood its ground and popularity by winning people’s hearts.
Owing to its rising popularity, movie makers Rishab Shetty and team have decided to push the OTT screening of Kantara to the end of November.
At first, the movie was reported to make its appearance on Amazon prime Video on November 4, then the date was pushed to November 18, and now finally to the end of November.
A reason for this postponement has been the ever-increasing collection of Kantara. The movie recently hit the 350-crore mark at the worldwide box office. Out of the collection, 28.10 crores is attributed to the overseas market. Overall, the film earned a total of 355.19 crores worldwide.
To make history by touching the 400-crore mark, filmmakers have decided to push back OTT screening from their list of priorities as of now. The film has also created a record of selling one crore tickets in Karnataka alone!
Kantara is a prime example of how authentic and raw movies touch the audience’s hearts and make a mark in the national movie industry. The south- Indian blockbuster can only be estimated to break records from now on.
