Sudha Murthy, the CEO of Infosys, found herself in the middle of a contentious Twitter dispute about whether or not members of the royal family should still be bowed down to.
Sudha Murthy bowing before a member of the mysore royal family. She is supposed to be a role model.
Is this still a tradition of greeting the members of Royal family in India?
Or was it more like an action out of reverence or respect? pic.twitter.com/1xSedjLXXB

After a picture of Murthy bowing down before a Mysore royal emerged, the internet was split into two sides regarding her actions.
“Look at Sudha Murthy bowing before a member of the Mysore royal family. She is supposed to be a role model,” said one tweet, disagreeing with her actions.

No one should bow down to monarchs anymore anywhere. They might be good and do noble work but that era is gone.
Especially Sudha Murthy given her work should never bow down to anyone.
PS: Nothing against Royal family. Point is no one should bow down to anyone anymore.— Abhishek (@Abhishekf1) September 26, 2022
Oh god🤦🏻♂️… is that Sudha murthy? Bowing in front of royalty? The mindset we have it in our blood, no amount of wealth and achievements would remove that from our behaviour…

Many, however, defended Murthy’s actions, stating culture and tradition as reasons.
The one who knows about Mysore Royal Family and thier contribution towards development of Karnataka and Kannadigas, would greet the Royal family members, the same way as Sudha Murthy Ma'am 🙏
We Kannadigas take pride in doing so. https://t.co/qK1FHVV8aQ

It is done out of respect for the Royal Family of Mysore. Maybe you didn't learn Indian culture?
