In another step to make the passengers’ travel more convenient, the Northern Railway Zone of the Indian Railways has introduced a ‘baby berth’. The Northern Railways’ Lucknow division made a special arrangement and added a lower berth, specifically for children.
It was introduced on Mother’s Day and is available in Lucknow Mail Coach No 194129/B4. It is currently available on berths 12 and 60.
This berth will be extremely useful for parents travelling with their babies and small children. They can avail this facility by putting the children on the extra berth. Furthermore, the Indian Railways will provide a stopper as a security measure next to the berth to prevent small children from falling asleep.
Happy Mother's Day.

The baby berth can also be folded, allowing this seat to be raised and lowered as needed. The facility will soon be available for lower berths.
Netizens took to Twitter to appreciate the initiative undertaken by the Indian Railways. However, a few users questioned how to request a baby berth while booking tickets online. Suresh Kumar Sapra, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Lucknow division, stated that there is currently no online provision for booking the berth. However, passengers may request that the on-board ticket examiner exchange their seat with a passenger who has been assigned a berth with baby seats.
Indian Railways is currently testing this special berth in one compartment and will soon expand to other trains based on passenger feedback.
