Reports have suggested that several Indian and Chinese soldiers have been left injured in the Tawan sector of Arunachal Pradesh. The clash is seen as a result of an escalation of a 30-month-long military confrontation in the region of eastern Ladakh. \
The clashes reportedly took place on December 9. Around 300-400 soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army tried to cross the Line of Actual Control. The intrusion was resisted by the Indian soldiers “ in a firm and resolute manner”
The clashes have resulted in injuries to soldiers from both sides. Certain reports have stated that the number of injured is more on the Chinese side, as compared to the Indian side. The wounded Indian soldiers have been evacuated to the military hospital in Guwahati.
“Both sides immediately disengaged from the area. As a follow-up of the incident, our commander in the area held a flag meeting with his (PLA) counterpart to discuss the issue in accordance with structured mechanisms to restore peace and tranquillity.” read a statement by the Indian Army.

Proud of the Indian Army to have responded to the Chinese in a firm and resolute manner in Tawang. Chinese govt. is facing its biggest existential crisis and their cowardly incursions into Indian territory shows desperation. I stand strongly behind the Indian armed forces.

The site where PLA tried to change status quo in Tawang is a heavily militarized zone since 1962. PLA commanders knew very well that Indian Army will not allow change of status quo. Then what was the motive? Is Beijing looking for justification to go for something bigger?

Following the clashes, Commanders on both sides held Flag Meetings to discuss the issue and work to restore peace. The Army stated that there are areas of differing perception in the Tawan sector, where both sides claim their lines.
The clashes between the Indian and Chinese soldiers have been continuing since 2020, however, this is the first major clash after the Galwan valley clashes which took place in June 2020.
