People from all walks of life have become a part of the Indian film industry, while most of them failed, a few of them tasted unprecedented success. But as the business goes, every actor has to prove themself every Friday at the box office.

Akshay Kumar

For the longest time, Akshay Kumar was touted ‘to be the biggest superstar in the country’. The actor was able to generate effective footfalls for movies based on a variety of topics. Even the movies based on social issues by the actor tasted commercial success, making Akshay Kumar the most bankable actor in the country.
However, post-pandemic, the appetite of the audience for movies based on social issues went down. Credit where due, Akshay Kumar did recognise the change in trend and changed his approach. The likes of Sooryavanshi and Bell Bottom fared well at the box office, but the success did not last long. Akshay Kumar fell into the trap of remakes and it backfired as those movies failed miserably at the box office.
The actor who is known for his punctuality and hard-working nature, was soon criticised for not putting in enough effort for movies that required him to do so. A couple of hits post the pandemic were followed by a string of flops. Although Akshay Kumar’s future projects do not show any promise, the actor must be hoping for a change in fortunes to stay relevant at the box office.

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is the undisputed king of Hindi cinema. The actor has a track record of proving his mettle in a variety of roles since his debut. However, the star’s popularity did not quite reflect in box office success in recent years, as the actor’s movies have consistently underperformed.
Shah Rukh Khan’s last clean hit was ‘Chennai Express’ which was released in 2012, more than a decade ago. Since then the actor has genuinely put in efforts to bring his best self on screen, with the likes of ‘Fan’, ‘Raees’, and ‘Zero’, but all in vain.
The fall of SRK at the box office coincided with the meteoric rise of his counterparts, and that made him experiment even more. His performances in most of the movies were praised but the movies failed in their entirety.
After the failure of his last release ‘Zero’, Shah Rukh Khan decided to take a sabbatical which lasted for over 4 years. Unlike Kumar, SRK’s lineup looks extremely promising and varied. He is hoping for the success of his next ambitious project ‘Pathaan’, which releases in January 2023.

Kangana is touted to be one of the best artists in the country. The actress delivered consistent hits in the earlier part of her career. Kangana Ranaut was also the flagbearer of female-centric movies in the recent past. Her solo ventures fared well commercially, cementing her position as the best female actor of her generation.
Post Tanu Weds Manu 2, the actress got involved in several off-screen controversies, which inadvertently affected the fate of her movies. Her political statements, fights on the sets, and social media posts coloured a particular picture of the actress, which did not help her by a bit.
The last few projects of Kangana have failed miserably at the box office, making it indispensable for the actress to deliver a hit with her upcoming ventures.

Prabhas became an overnight sensation in the country, post the success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali in 2015. Little was known about the actor in most parts of the country except for the south until 2015, but the unprecedented success of the historical put him on a different pedestal.
However, since the Baahubali series, the actor has not been able to impress the audience with his movie choices and performances. ‘PAN Indian movies’ became a phenomenon post the success of the SS Rajamouli epic, several mediocre movies started getting mounted on an unheard budget just to become a part of the bandwagon.
The actor is associated with movie makers who made the movies big because of the inclusion of the star and not because the story demanded it to be so. The likes of Saaho and Radhe Shyam are prime examples of the same. With a unanimously negative response to the teaser of his next Aadipurush, the actor would be gearing up for a change in plans as far as his movie choices go.
