Popular Cricketer Prithvi Shaw recently made headlines after the cricketer and his friend got into a brawl outside a luxurious Mumbai hotel with a couple of fans over refusal to agree for a selfie.
The scuffle took place late Wednesday night at Barrel Mansion Club in Vile Parle East. Following an argument with two fans over the batsman’s refusal to take selfies, Shaw was allegedly manhandled and his car was smashed with a baseball bat
Those named in the complaint – two of whom have been identified as Shobhit Thakur and Sana or Sapna Gill – have refuted the charges and accused the 23-year-old cricketer of assaulting them first. Ms Gill was arrested on Thursday evening.
After having dinner, when Shaw and Yadav were leaving, they noticed Thakur clutching a baseball bat. The accused used the baseball bat to smash the car’s windscreen after they had seated in it. Gill manhandled Shaw as well. When Mr Shaw and his friend drove off, they chased the car, intercepted it at a traffic signal near Oshiwara and broke the windshield, it added. They also demanded ₹ 50,000, threatening to file a fake police case, according to Mr Shaw’s friend.
As per the report, based on Yadav’s complaint, the Oshiwara police has registered a case against the eight accused under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 148 (rioting), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and others of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to media reports, Prithvi has not recorded his statement with the police and neither does he want to file a police complaint. Several videos of the scuffle have gone viral on social media. The video shows Sapna Gill and Prithvi Shaw struggling with each other.
