1. Govinda Naam Mera
Producers perplexed over their future releases have decided to ditch the theaters and instead agreed on a direct-to-digital premiere of Govinda Naam Mera starring Vicky Kaushal. The movie and satellite rights have been acquired by disney+ Hotstar for a total of 62 crores. The film is produced by Dharma productions and will be released in November 2022.
2. Bloody Daddy
Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, bloody daddy featuring Shahid Kapoor in the leading role will be premiered on Voot select as an ott film. The film is a remake of the 2011 hit film Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Night). The plot unravels around a loving father who fights against all odds to save his child from the mafia.
3. Mission Majnu
The spy thriller starring Bollywood heartthrob Siddharth Malhotra is regarded as the story of India’s greatest covert operation. This movie will also mark Rashmika Mandana’s much-awaited Bollywood debut. The film, originally scheduled to release in theatres in June 2022, got delayed. the ott release of the thriller is kept under wraps and shall be revealed soon, claims sources.
4. Freddy
Latest reports suggest that makers of Kartik Aaryan’s Freddy might opt for a direct-to-digital release. Rumor has it that an international ott giant and the producers of Freddy have been in talks over the last couple of months regarding the release of the film. Freddy will also feature Alaya F and Brazilian actress Jennifer Piccinato in prominent roles.
5. An Action Hero
Financed by Aanand L Rai, An Action Hero is slated to hit theatres on December 2, 2022. Presenting a satirical sense of humor, the film will feature Ayushmann Khurana and Jaideep Ahlawat in titular roles. Buzz is on that makers are keen to feature the film on OTT if they get the right price.
6. doctor G
Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, Doctor G, an ambitious social comedy film starring Ayushmann Khurana and Rakul Preet Singh is all set to premiere in December 2022. The versatile actor will portray the role of a gynaecologist for the first time in his career. Sources from Pinkvilla claim that the film might also have an OTT release, the dates of which, however, are yet to be revealed.
Contrary to what reports claimed last year, the dull spell in Bollywood is bound to continue. While the momentum around #BoycottBollywood accelerates every day, it is up to the producers of their respective films to look for better opportunities and steer clear of future controversies.
