The Indian National Congress (INC) has taken a comfortable lead in the Karnataka State Assembly Elections, according to early trends. As of 12:00 pm, the Congress party is leading in 117 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been reduced to 75 seats, as reported by India Today.
The exit polls had predicted a hung assembly, similar to the outcome of the 2018 elections when the BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state. However, the early trends suggest a clear lead for the INC, which needs at least 113 seats to form the government in the state.
Prominent leaders of various parties, including Bommai, DK Shivakumar, and Siddharamaiah, are leading from their respective constituencies. However, Nikhil Kumaraswamy and Jagadish Shettar are among the top leaders who are currently trailing in the first half of the results.
The Karnataka State Assembly Elections have always been fiercely contested by three major political players, the INC, the BJP, and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)). While the JD(S) has not yet made significant gains, the final outcome of the election is yet to be determined.
The people of Karnataka have eagerly waited for the election results, which will determine the future of the state’s political landscape. The counting of votes is still ongoing, and the final result is expected to be declared later in the day.
