SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been sending shock waves in the West for quite some time. The movie has added another feather to India’s crown after creating history at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards.
MM Keeravani composed the song and beat several other popular compositions, by Taylor Swift and Rihanna. ‘Nattu Nattu’ has become the first Asian song to win this prestigious award. Several Indian celebrities and leaders have congratulated the team for their achievements.
The high-octane song which made the crowd go crazy in the theatres was a difficult
choreography to execute. According to reports the song had 80 variations to the hook steps. It also stated that the lead actors, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan gave 18 takes to the song.
In several interviews, the stars opened up about the difficulty in working on the song as Rajamouli wanted a perfect sync between both the actors, who are also known for their dancing chops. Out of the 18 takes, the filmmaker chose the second frame for the movie.
In the movie, the song is shown to have taken place in the capital city of Delhi. However, in reality, the song was shot in the current war zone in Ukraine. In a promotional interview before the release of the movie in India, the director revealed that the song was shot in Ukraine. He also stated that the song was shot right outside the official residence of the Ukrainian President, Zelensky.
“We shot the Naatu Naatu song in Ukraine. It is a real location. It is the Ukrainian President’s palace. There is a parliament right beside the palace. Luckily, they permitted us to shoot because the Ukrainian president was a television actor. The funny thing is that he acted as the President in a TV series before becoming the President,” the filmmaker said.
