Bengaluru is gearing up for a significant expansion of its metro network with the addition of four new lines. The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, responsible for Bengaluru’s development, recently paid a visit to the offices of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited to discuss various aspects of the city’s metro system.
During the visit, Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar held discussions with senior officials concerning the progress of ongoing metro projects, strategies to enhance non-fare revenue, and the opening of new lines. The positive outcome of these discussions brings exciting news for the city’s residents and commuters.
The first among the upcoming metro lines, the Baiyappanahalli-KR Puram line, spanning 2.1 kilometers, will serve as a crucial missing link in the Challaghatta-Whitefield Purple Line. This line is expected to commence operations as early as July, facilitating seamless connectivity between these areas.
Following closely, the Kengeri-Challaghatta line is projected to be operational by August or September. This new addition to the metro network will offer convenient transportation options for residents residing in these regions.
The Nagasandra-Madavara line, spanning 3 kilometers, has been under construction since 2017 and is set to be accessible to the public in September or October. This line will play a vital role in enhancing connectivity and easing travel for commuters.
The longest of the four new lines, the RV Road-Bommasandra line, covering an impressive distance of 19.14 kilometers, will open in October or November. This line holds immense significance as it connects Electronics City, a prominent IT hub, with other parts of the city. Its introduction is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and provide a more efficient commuting option for tech professionals working in the area.
