The house, located in the Malabar Hill area of Mumbai, was bought for a whopping ₹1,001 crore in April last year. Damani is the list of top 100 richest men in the world, with a net worth of $19.7 billion as per Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Spread over 5,752 square meters, the house is ninety years old. The property was previously owned by Saurabh Mehta, Varsha Mehta, and Jayesh Shah, who are trustees and business partners at Premchand Roychand & Sons LLC Partner Phoenix Family Trust.
The Raheja family come next, as they bought three duplex apartments spanning across 66,811 square feet in the high-end Worli area for Rs.427 crores.
JC Chaudhry, the managing director and founder of Aakash Educational Service, bought a house in Delhi, worth Rs.150 Crore. This was the fifth most expensive house sold in India last year.

Anil Gupta, Chairperson, and MD of KEI Industries bought a 2000 square yard property at Delhi’s Shanti Niketan for Rs 140 crores. Next in line is the promoter of pharmaceutical company JB Chemical Pranab Modi, who bought apartments in South Mumbai’s Morena House for Rs 138 crores.
While most of the homeowners who made it to the list are business owners, it had some others too. The most popular name on the list is the writer and former investment banker, Chetan Bhagat, who bought a house worth ₹11.6 crores in Delhi last month.

Dr. Amita Nene of Bombay Hospital also made it to the list after buying a property worth ₹55 crores in the Malabar Hill area of Mumbai. Manoj Modi, director at Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail, also bought several properties in the last year along with his family, cumulatively worth Rs.192 crores.
